Transition to adult social care from residential schools for young people with intellectual/developmental disabilities

A small research team, including family carers and people with learning disabilities/autism as advisors, at the Tizard Centre, University of Kent is trying to find out more about what happens when young people leave residential school or college. They would like to interview young people and family carers about their views and experiences of the transition process.

They would like to talk to you if you are:

  • A young person with a learning disability or autism who has moved on from a residential school or college in the past 5 years
  • A family carer of a young person with a learning disability or autism who has moved on from a residential school or college in the past 5 years

Research findings will be shared widely to help ensure that the move from residential school/college goes smoothly.

If you want to know more about the project, please contact a member of the project team for a chat – they will be very pleased to hear from you!
