Listening Service

A service for parents, parents to be or family carers of people who have Down’s syndrome.

What is the DSA Listening Service?

When we are facing difficulties, it is important that we have people to listen. It may be helpful to talk to someone who is independent and who has time for us.

Being listened to without interruption may help resolve issues or identify positive actions to take.

Our listener will listen to your story and reflect what you say. They will encourage you to explore and process your thoughts and feelings and occasionally summarise what you have said. They will not counsel or advise. If appropriate, they may suggest other forms of support that could help you or direct you to resources.

The service is not counselling or advice-giving.
The appointments will take place via zoom and are for 40 minutes.

Please ensure that you book your call for a time that you know you will be free to talk and somewhere that you feel safe and is quiet so that you can get the most out of the it.

To make an appointment please complete the short form, below. This information will be sent direct to the listener and will remain confidential.
