We would still like to introduce you to one of our jumpers Emma and of course her son Cian…
She is “nervous but excited” about jumping out of a plane to mark World Down Syndrome Day.
Emma Tilley, who has never done a skydive before and admits that she is scared of heights, says she’s raising money for the Down’s Syndrome Association because the charity has helped her young son Cian, who has Down’s syndrome.
“As a family we wanted to raise money for the Down’s Syndrome Association as it supported us with invaluable information as we started our journey with Cian. He has shown remarkable strength and resilience in his first 19 months and therefore I wanted to push myself to my limits, to hopefully raise money to support other families.”
Cian was born in July 2018 and has had a tough start to his life. He’s endured four bowel surgeries and also spent time in the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit.
“He takes it all in his stride and fights what is thrown at him. The Down’s Syndrome Association’s information resources have been invaluable. The charity has also put us in contact with support groups and we are likely to use them as Cian continues to grow and develop.”
This year is the Down’s Syndrome Association’s 50th anniversary and on 21 March, 50 people will be skydiving in Salisbury to raise money for the charity.
