KAEFER UK & Ireland select DSA as charity of the year

KAEFER UK & Ireland has selected the Down’s Syndrome Association (DSA) to be their Charity of the Year for 2021-2022.

We are honoured that industrial services company KAEFER have chosen to support us this year and look forward to a year of developing relationships, raising much needed funds and raising awareness about Down’s syndrome and the charity’s work in the UK.

KAEFER works in a wide variety of industries, from oil, gas, energy and pharmaceuticals to mining, marine and construction. They provide products, systems, solutions and services for clients around the globe with more than 30,000 employees globally.

We are the only charity in England, Wales and Northern Ireland focusing on all aspects of living successfully with Down’s syndrome. We have been supporting people who have Down’s syndrome, their families, carers and health professionals for over 50 years and our mission is to create the conditions that people who have Down’s syndrome need to live full and rewarding lives.

Our Helpline and Information Centre provides support directly through a helpline, closed Facebook groups and individual consultations and assessments. Our website hosts a wealth of free information resources. Our award-winning employment programme WorkFit® brings together employers and jobseekers who have Down’s syndrome, providing tailored support to employers and candidates. Our DSActive programme aims to provide as many opportunities as possible for people with Down’s syndrome to lead active and healthy lives. Lockdowns and restrictions last year severely restricted these opportunities and in response we launched DSEngage, providing free online activities for people who have Down’s syndrome of all ages.

The Our Voice project, where people who have Down’s syndrome from across the country get a chance to have a say about how the DSA is run, also gives them a chance to support each other and help us make better resources.

We are thrilled to welcome KAEFER as a new corporate partner and look forward to working with them in the coming year. Being chosen as KAEFER’s Charity of the Year for 2021-22 is a great opportunity…together we can support more people who have Down’s syndrome and improve understanding about the condition.’
Carol Boys, Chief Executive of the DSA.

Chris Foulkes, CEO, of KAEFER UK & Ireland said: ‘It’s a real pleasure for KAEFER to support the Down’s Syndrome Association as our charity of the year for England, Wales and Northern Ireland. Never more so than in these challenging times have our charities needed our support. We are happy not only to help with fundraising for the DSA to continue helping people who have Down’s syndrome live full and rewarding lives, but, also to take the opportunity to challenge business to raise our game with respect to inclusivity, diversity and equality. Our KAEFER family are already looking forward to creating some exciting events in 2021 with the DSA and I guarantee we’ll also have a bit of fun.’
