Every single penny raised during Awareness Week and on World Down Syndrome Day helps us continue our work, supporting people who have Down’s syndrome from before birth and into old age.

It also helps us to amplify the voices of people who have Down’s syndrome, by working with them in all aspects of the work we do.

Show your support for World Down Syndrome Day by wearing a pair of #LotsOfSocks on 21 March

This year’s design was created by David from Guatemala.

Here is what he has to say about his design:

‘For the design of Lots of Socks I drew gears. Gears are necessary for machines to work. They have two main functions: to increase speed or to increase force. Each one fits perfectly with another, and together they are part of something bigger.

Many times people may believe that because we have an extra chromosome because we are different gears, we cannot fit together and make a big change, but this is not true. Together, as a community, we are part of something much, much bigger. Together we increase the strength, like gears in an incredible machine.’

Don’t forget to share your #LotsOfSocks pictures!

We would love to see pictures of you in your #LotsOfSocks on World Down Syndrome Day.
Share them on social media using the #LotsOfSocks hashtag or #WorldDownSyndromeDay

With your help we can continue to make a difference to the lives of people who have Down’s syndrome and their families and carers…

What is World Down Syndrome Day?

World Down Syndrome Day (WDSD), 21 March, is a global awareness day which has been officially observed by the United Nations since 2012.

All over the world, events are held to amplify the voices of people who have Down’s syndrome, highlighting their vital role in our communities and calling for their full participation in anything that affects their lives.

We work with Coor Down, from Italy, Down Syndrome International and other organisations to create powerful awareness campaigns.

Here are some campaigns from previous years…watch this space for the 2024 film!
