Our Robin Family | Kate’s Blog

Now we are well into spring, our garden is gradually coming to life.

We have some surprising visitors who have decided to move in with us. Mr and Mrs Robin have chosen our garden shed as the ideal place to build their nest. Some weeks ago, we noticed a robin flying into our shed through a gap in a badly fitted door. On checking we found the nest in a dark corner of the shed in it were four tiny eggs. They have since hatched.

We know our robin’s favourite food is dried mealworms which we keep in a tin. If we place these on a table in the garden and then shake the tin, within a few minutes, one or both robins will appear, grab a beak full of food and fly off into the nest in the shed. we are leaving them in peace and hope to be around when the young fledge.

Stay safe everybody
