Virtual World Down Syndrome Day conference: catch up with all the presentations

This year’s World Down Syndrome Day virtual conference, which was broadcast over three days last week, is now available on UN Web TV.

Each session was moderating by a representative who has Down’s syndrome:

Session One looked at the importance of #CONNECT (connecting) for people who have Down’s syndrome and intellectual disabilities, in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic and the resulting exacerbation of inequalities.

Session Two explored a vision of inclusive education, the challenges faced in its realisation and the effect of COVID-19 on education around the world.

In Session Three the speakers showcased good examples of connecting and what it can achieve. Connections are key for people with Down syndrome to lead full, meaningful lives and to enable them to fully participate in all aspects of life. Connections enable others to hear their voice.
