Our Voice Our Choice Meeting – March 2019

The DSA asked us for our help.

They are thinking about helping people to feel good in happy times and difficult times.

We talked about things that make us happy, things that help us relax and what we would say to a friend who was having a bad day.

These things make us happy:

  • Technology iPhone and watch
  • Doing my own jobs around in my flat
  • Making art stuff
  • Drinking coffee

This is our advice for a friend who is having a bad day:

  • Don’t worry be happy!
  • Give them space – leave them to stay calm in their bedroom
  • Ask if they are ready to talk about their feelings
  • Ask them what they like to do for weekend activities
  • Tell them to have a relaxing bath
  • Ask them to breathe deeply – It helps them to stay calm and relaxed
  • Ask if they would like a nice cup of tea or coffee to relax
  • Ask if they are finding it hard to sleep
  • Give them a hug
  • Support them
  • Be kind to people
  • Cuddle some people
  • Make them happy
