Meet Raffy…

We’d like to say a great big thank you to Raffy for completing his #Challenge21 steps challenge, raising such a fantastic total and for taking the time to tell us a little bit about himself and his experience.

My name is Raffy Benjamin and I’m 29 years old. I grew up in North London with my parents, 2 brothers and one sister. I left home in 2013 to live and gain work experience at Derwen College in Wales. In 2018 I completed my courses there and moved to a Camphill Community in Aldenham near Watford where I live now at Delrow House with my friends and support staff there. It’s a friendly community and we have a daily schedule that keeps us active and busy.

When my parents told me about the Challenge21 steps challenge I thought it would be a good idea as I like walking and could raise some money for a good charity.

I only walked on weekends and on vacation so that my steps could be supervised and counted correctly using Fitbit – and I walked with my parents and younger brother Zak.

We walked the initial 25000 steps around Hampstead Heath and then travelled to our place in the French mountains where I walked every day for 10 days and completed my total of 134,360 steps (53 miles).

The most exciting parts were walking up some very steep mountains, walking around the lakes and stopping for a quick snack at lunch time.

Completing the Challenge made me feel proud and I’m very proud of having walked so many steps – much of it on steep hills.

My other hobbies that I enjoy most are football, drama, cooking, singing, dancing and skiing (I’m rather good at that). I also like travelling.

Right now I’m looking forward to my birthday in October and going back to my friends at Delrow House. My only ambition is to continue to live and work at Delrow House with all my friends.
