Meet Luke…

Luke is 28 and lives in Nottinghamshire with his family…Mum, big brother Matt and younger brother Jason.

He’s answered a few questions about himself to share with you all…

How would you describe yourself?

I am a kind person and I like helping people out. Fun loving gamer. I like to make people happy by giving them hugs and I love my family and friends very much.

What are your favourite hobbies?

Listening to music and finding new music to listen to. I also love gaming and drawing. I like to draw things for my friends and family using things they like. I like too cook and bake with my mum and at work.

Do you enjoy keeping fit? If you do, what’s your favourite exercise/activity?

I enjoy keeping fit as it makes me feel happy. I like to practice everything I have learned at boxing on my punch bag at home and weightlifting. I also sometimes enjoy going for a walk.

Do you have a job?

I have a job. I work for Haywoods Home of Alrate Cheesecakes. I help cook meals, I serve people slush puppies and sweets, I also serve customers food at their tables.

I love making my own cheesecakes, called Luke Specials. This includes blending up the biscuit base, and mixing the cream topping, then I add my own take on the toppings for the cheesecakes. I have had some customers ask for a cheesecake specially made by me.

I also wash the pots and help to clean the kitchen and the tables at work. I love my job and my work family. Paul’s my best mate.

Do you have any brothers or sisters?

I have two brothers and a sister. They are Matt, Sonja and Jason. I also have three nephews and two nieces.

Do you have any pets?

We have three birds…a cockatiel named BBOT (Bird Bott), two budgies named Charlie and Delta…a cat named Tiny and a frog named Goggy Froggy.

Last year you did a fundraising challenge for Cancer Research. Why did you choose this charity to raise money for?

I chose to raise money Cancer Research in memory of our family friend Toni who we lost in 2021 to cancer and for Joel who we also lost in 2021.

Why did you choose boxing?

I chose boxing to loose weight and because I have watched my brother in law (Jamie) do this twice for the same cause and I wanted a go.

I also wanted to learn how to box properly.

I really enjoyed my training each week. I made the effort to turn up to every session I could and I loved that I was matched up with AC who is my mate and helped me train for Match Night.

How did you feel afterwards?

I felt really happy that I won, also a little emotional because I did it.

What are you looking forward to in 2022?

I am looking forward to getting my next tattoo which is boxing gloves and the date that I had my match.

Do you have any advice for readers?

Be happy and if you want to try something don’t be afraid to give it ago!!
