CBeebies presenter and actor George Webster has just launched his second book.
A bright and beautiful paperback with illustrations by Tim Budgen and collaborator Claire Taylor, Why Not? George’s new book, is a gorgeous rhyming tale.

George the Author

Congratulations on the launch of your second book! How does it feel seeing your books for sale in bookshops?
It feels very exciting to see my new book “Why Not?” in bookshops. I can’t wait for the young readers to pick up the book and read it with their family.

What’s your favourite part of writing a book?
My favourite part of writing a book is working as a team with the wonderful Claire Taylor and Tim Budgen. We all helped each other on this incredible journey. All the illustrations that Tim has drawn are absolutely amazing.

You must be so busy… are you looking forward to anything in particular in the coming year?
I’m a very busy person so I’ve got loads of exciting things coming up including CBeebies Studio and Festival work and working more on a play project in France called Back to Reality.

What do you like to do to relax?
To relax I like to; listen to music mainly musical theatre and rock etc. Play FIFA on my Xbox with dad, go for a run, go out for a drink with my mates, and watch films/TV/Theatre.

Do you like to cook? If you do, what meal do you like to cook the most?
I do like cooking, but the main chef is dad on the weekend and in holidays. Also, my mum too. The meal I like to cook the most has got to be pasta with roast veg and cheese or a nice hot and spicy curry.

Who are your heroes?
My heroes are my mum and dad because I look up to them a lot and I love them. When I was little my heroes were Justin Fletcher/Mr. Tumble and Dave Benson Phillips because they teach a type of language in the TV called Makaton. Makaton uses signs and symbols to help you communicate. I used this before I spoke with words.

Do you have anything you’d like to say to our readers?
The whole message and theme to “Why Not?” is to always try new things and find the things that make you happy which will make you glow so please take this message from the book. We’re all different, talented, and unique in our own ways.

What’s it like to be a presenter on CBeebies?
I love being a presenter on CBeebies, it’s so much fun! I’m never leaving. Being part of something like the incredible CBeebies is like being part of one massive family as everyone is super lovely and supportive. We film very fun links such as gameplay, imaginative role-play and birthdays.

How did it feel to win a Bafta Award?
To win a Bafta Award feels proud and very happy. It’s an incredible achievement, and I dedicate it to everyone who has supported me such as the CBeebies family, all the charities and groups I’ve worked with, my family and friends.
