Football Festival in Islington

Back in March, Arsenal in The Community held a DSActive Football Festival in Islington. The four teams involved in the festival were Arsenal, Lincoln, Crystal Palace (Palace4Life) and Fulham Foundation. The matches were 5 aside on a 3G pitch and all teams were in their football kits. The festival was open to people with Down’s syndrome. Many family and friends were watching the football matches and Arsenal In The Community gave a tour visit of the Emirates for the teams. All the matches were competitive and all teams scored goals.

A parent from Lincoln said:

“My son enjoyed today’s football. His life is football. He loves attending the Lincoln sessions and he gets the opportunity to represent Lincoln FC. This festival was a good experience for him and his team. He is looking forward to National Football Festival in Birmingham.”

Emma from DSActive said:

“Today, I spent my time referring the matches. The quality of football on show today was superb with some good goals and brilliant individual skills. Also, it’s great to see DSActive partner clubs attending the festival. We need to continue creating opportunities for people with Down’s syndrome for all abilities.”
