The DSActive team have been working with British Gymnastics to develop a version of our coach education workshop specifically for gymnastics coaches. The workshop is designed to help upskill coaches on how to support people with Down’s syndrome in to their gymnastic clubs.
The workshop covers Down’s syndrome, health conditions associated with the condition, myths and truths, terminology, behaviour and how best to adapt a session to suit the needs of people with Down’s syndrome.
The gymnastic coaches found the workshop really useful, one commented:
“I wasn’t expecting to learn anything new, having worked with people with Down’s syndrome for a long time, but I learnt loads. It was a really interesting workshop and I found it really useful.”
