We are delighted to share the news that Dr Karen Dodd, Clinical Psychologist and long-time friend and advisor to the DSA has won the 2024 British Psychological Society’s Practice Board Lifetime Achievement in Psychology Award.
During her career, Karen has worked tirelessly on supporting people with a learning disability to overcome health and social inequalities, and she has been at the forefront of helping health and social care staff to understand how people with a learning disability experience pain and how to normalise emotions.
Karen has been revolutionary in her approach to making life better for people with a learning disability.
Karen is the author of the DSA Dementia Workbook. Based on Karen’s 33 years of work with Surrey and Borders Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, this brilliant resource was originally created to help health and social care professionals to understand more about Dementia in Down’s syndrome, and how support those who have the disease.
