10 August 2023 – Autumn booster programme

This week, the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunization announced that children and adults who have Down’s syndrome aged 6 months and over and family carers (with immediate caring responsibilities for their family member who has Down’s syndrome) will be eligible for an autumn Covid booster.

Each UK nation will have their own strategy for booster roll-out and will announce, in due course, the mechanism for inviting people to have their booster. As soon as we have more information, we will share what we know. In past years, autumn boosters tend to be around October to Christmas time.

Remember, also, the importance of having a seasonal flu vaccine. Most people who have Down’s syndrome will be eligible for a flu vaccine this winter. Talk to your GP if you have any questions.
