Erin Ballet-Dances her Way to a Distinction

Erin loves ballet and was recently awarded a distinction for her Grade 1 exam.
In fact she came top in her mainstream class at Savvy Studios! We were lucky enough to interview Erin in person and see what she had to say about her love of dance and preparing for the exam.

Tell us about yourself Erin
I live in St Ives with my Mum and Dad and brother Noah and 2 cats, Hamish and Three. Three has only got 3 legs!
My brother is 19 and I am 16, so he is older than me.
I go to school on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. I board every Tuesday and that’s really fun.

What kind of dance do you do?
I do modern, tap and ballet, I like doing tap actually and I do tap every Saturday.
We have just done Grade 2 ballet and I got top marks in the class, so it was a distinction.

What did you have to do in the exam?
The person was sitting in a chair and I had to stand in front of them and do the dance I had practised.

What did you have to wear for the exam?
My hair was up in a bun and I’ve got my leotard, tight and ballet shoes. It was a blue leotard and a skirt that matches.

Were you nervous?
Yes I was a bit nervous because it was a person that I don’t really know. Miss Clare and my parents were really proud of me.

What other sports do you like?
I like basketball, football and I did skiing when I was little with mum and dad. It was really good and there was lots of snow.

We hope you keep enjoying dance Erin. Let us know if you do your Grade 3 in the future!
