Sarah

I live in London in supported housing with three other girls near my mum and dad and two brothers (I’m in the middle). The staff are lovely and really helpful too if I have a problem and we have lots of fun. I went to mainstream school and got 4 GCSE’s and I got some city and guilds certificates at 6th Form Centre then I went to Foxes Academy in Minehead, Somerset for three years and studied catering and hospitality. It was a big step as Minehead is quite far away and I was homesick. On the first day I wanted to come home, but then I was happy, made lots of friends and wanted to be more independent. I learned so much there.

I was very sad at the thought of leaving Foxes but my life had to move on. I am very busy and have lots of friends. I love music and dancing. I support Spurs and go to matches sometimes. I like films and television especially Strictly Come Dancing and enjoy going out for dinner with my boyfriend. I work as a volunteer as a receptionist and in a Charity shop. I was in a television series on Channel Four called Kitchen Impossible with Michel Roux Jr. He’s a famous chef and we worked in restaurants and cafes. We even went to Paris to cook for his family.

Since the programme I have started working 3 half days a week at a restaurant. My dad wrote a published a book about my life when I was younger, and then in 2018 he did the follow up about me growing up. You can also hear me talking about my life in an episode of the Shifting Perspectives Podcast.
