Kenzie’s birthday skydive

Kenzie wrote to us to tell us about her upcoming skydive to celebrate turning 16!

First, can you tell us a little about yourself?

Hi, I am Kenzie and I am about to turn 16 (at time of writing). I have three brothers Nathan, Mikey and Vinnie, my sister-in-law is called Charlotte and I have a nephew called Benji. I am still in school and I start Sixth Form in September. I like fidget toys, singing and making TikTok’s. I like doing hair and makeup at college and skin care routines.

How will you celebrate your 16th birthday?

We are going out for a meal at our local Chinese buffet restaurant (Chinese is my favourite food) the day before my birthday with my mum, stepdad, brothers, nannie and grandad. On my actual birthday I get to be in charge, which I’m very good at being bossy! Then the day after my birthday I spend with my dad and youngest brother and that side of my family! We normally go out for a meal. So I celebrate my birthday over lots of days and it involves lots of yummy food!

Tell us about your upcoming skydive…

My stepdad was watching an old Army film when I was 11 and men were jumping out of a plane, I asked my mum if I could do that and she said no and that I was too young and that I had to wait until I was 18. When my dad looked into it recently he said he would pay for me to do it for my 16th birthday if mum agreed. I had to have a medical check with my doctor, who filled a form in and said I can do it! Mum mentioned that I should try and raise some funds for charity if I was going to do it and I decided to raise some funds for the Babybeat appeal (we had raised some money for them a couple of months ago after my nephew Benjie was born prematurely!) When I was born I had to spend some time on the special baby care unit that Benji did, so I wanted to raise more money for them!

How are you feeling about the skydive?

I am very excited with a little bit of nervous but I want to do my dream!

Once you have done this, what is your next dream?

Get a car! I want to get my driving license and start my driving lessons! I would like to swim with sharks but my mum has said NO-WAY, she has enough grey hairs!

What subjects do you enjoy at school and what is next for you?

I love English, Maths and going to a local college and doing hair and beauty with my best friend Shami! I am starting at a new place in September for Sixth Form, I am nervous about changing schools.

When not at school, what else do you enjoy doing?

I love looking after my nephew Benji, he is just too cute and cheeky! I feed him, change his nappies, play with and sing to him, we make TikTok’s together. I love TikTok! I go to drama on a Saturday and we do two performances a year. I can’t wait to finish school at 18 so I can go clubbing and to bingo!

Tell us about your favourite film…

Matilda, the musical one not the old one! It’s about Miss Trunchball and a little girl called Matilda, who likes reading books.

What would you like to do as a job in the future?

I like two jobs, I would like to work in a nursery looking after little children, I am going on a work placement to a nursery very soon. I would also like to be a chef as I like cooking yummy food.

Who is your hero and why?

I have a few. My Mum is my hero because she is lovely kind and helpful, Benji is my hero because he was so small when he was born and very poorly and he is really cute and Charlotte (my sister-in-law) is my hero because she helps me with all my work, takes me out and spends lots of time with me, she is a brilliant mummy for my nephew and I love her like my own sister.

Is there anything else you would like to tell people reading this blog?

Mum said reach for the stars but she didn’t mean by jumping out of an aeroplane. Always do your dreams because they make you happy!

Please donate if you can, or share my post!

Thank-you, I love you all.
