Thomas: Supported Intern at Inclusive United

Thomas Light is a shining example of what is possible given the right opportunities.
On a supported internship at North Herts College, he spends one day a week at Inclusive United CIC.
Here, he is developing his knowledge of futsal and football, as well as gaining vital experience of the world of work.

Thomas has loved football since the age of six

Since the age of six, Thomas has shown a keen interest in sport. After completing BTEC sport at school and entry level sports studies at college he moved on to the internship. Alongside improving his game, Thomas is involved in brainstorming ideas for the club. He is also part of any club decisions that are made.

On a personal level, Thomas has grown in confidence and resilience since joining the programme. He has learnt more about his strengths and how to deal with any challenges that he might face. All really good life skills!

A passionate advocate for inclusion in sport, Thomas is sharing his enthusiasm for football with other young adults. He is paving the way for others who have a disability by challenging preconceived ideas about abilities and aspirations.

When lockdown ended, Thomas started 1:1 training sessions with Hannah Coote.
Hannah is a Director of Inclusive United now and she works closely with Thomas as a mentor to support him to coach others.
