My name is Katie and I’m 18 years old. In March I auditioned to take part in the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games Handover Event. There were lots of other people auditioning too.
I didn’t hear anything for 3 days which was worrying but finally I got an email to say I’d been selected.
Everyone had to rehearse really hard for two weeks. We had to learn a dance routine and all the words to Mr Blue Sky by ELO.
The final performance was 15 April. It was filmed and broadcast live around the world from the centre of Birmingham.
It was an amazing experience and my Mum is very proud of me.
