B&Q Volunteers Transform DSA’s Community Space

We would like to thank an enthusiastic team from B&Q New Malden accepted the volunteering opportunity of improving the community space outside the Langdon Down Centre in Teddington. The Langdon Down Centre is home to the offices of the Down’s Syndrome Association, the Normansfield Theatre, which is used for performances throughout the year, and the Langdon Down Museum.

The community space outside the Centre is regularly used by children and visitors, but it had become overgrown and neglected.  The five keen volunteers arrived at the Centre with tools, plants and equipment and worked tirelessly to clear the overgrown beds and transform the space with brightly coloured plants and bushes. With a nod to protecting the environment, the B&Q team also supplied a composter for future use.

‘The B&Q team have done an amazing job of creating a vibrant community space with flowers and bushes, which has transformed the area.  The many visitors to the Langdon Down Centre, including people with physical and learning disabilities, will be able to enjoy this outdoor area and have a better visitor experience to the Centre and its many accessible activities and fundraising events.’ Jo Hardie, the Landon Down Centre Manager.

The DSA would like to say a big thank you to B&Q and its volunteers
