Parent/carer perspectives on specialist speech and language therapy assessment for children and young people with Down Syndrome

This study aims to explore the experiences of parents/carers in obtaining a specialist Down Syndrome (DS) speech and language assessment and if there was any impact from the outcomes of the assessment.

It involves completing an online questionnaire that should take around 10 minutes to fill in. Access to this questionnaire can be found via the following link: https://forms.gle/W53h9kUbxfLeds2cA.

It will be of relevance to parents/carers of children and young people with Down syndrome (up to the age of 25) who have had a Down syndrome specialist speech and language assessment through providers such as the Lejeune Clinic, Symbol UK, Lets GO!, and the DSA.

NHS speech and language therapy and some mainstream schools may not be aware of up-to-date resources and interventions that are specifically designed for or recommended for children and young people with DS. This project aims to see if these specialised assessments impact children and young people on a local level in terms of NHS provision, resources used at school and empowerment of parents.
