A new ambassador for the DSA

We are absolutely thrilled to welcome Johnnie Wraith, fundraiser extraordinaire, to the Down’s Syndrome Association team as an Ambassador.

Dad to Max, aged seventeen, Johnnie is better known on our website and social media as one of the ‘Putney Gumps‘. Johnnie has been pushing the fundraising envelope for the DSA for many years. In his new role, we will see Johnnie advocating for and supporting the DSA and it’s members in new and innovative ways. We are all delighted to be working with him.

When appointed to the role, Johnny said:

‘Since a few weeks after our son Max was born in 2005, the DSA has steadfastly been supporting us through our extraordinary journey. We have been helped through every challenge, and found indescribable joy along the way, and feel truly blessed to have Max in our lives.

As a small way of giving something back, I have taken part with friends in many sponsored endurance challenges over recent years. These have included a 300 mile cycling and running relay, several London marathons, a marathon a month for a year, the 100km Race to the Stones, the 160km Thames Path Challenge, and completing 7 marathons in 7 days.

It is an enormous pleasure for me to be appointed as an Ambassador, and I hope to keep supporting the DSA however I can for many years to come.’

Johnnie recently co-hosted the first of our ‘DS Dads’ sessions and is looking forward to developing this new support strand.

Carol Boys, Chief Executive of the DSA, said:

Johnnie’s been an amazing supporter of the DSA for the last seventeen years. I’m so happy to welcome him into his new role and am looking forward to working with him in the future.’
