We travel to Rajasthan, the desert region of northern India, where our exciting cycle challenge takes us through an historic and beautiful area known for its characteristic old palaces, forts and painted houses.
Grasp the opportunity to experience an adventure off the Indian tourist trail, exploring the amazing painted “havelis” (mansions) of Shekawati, the colorful vibrancy of the local villages and the contrasting wonders of bustling Delhi, Jaipur and the world famous Taj Mahal.
Day 1 – We depart the UK on our overnight flight to Delhi.
Day 2 – We’ll be met at Delhi airport and taken by coach directly to the Midway Hotel, Behror, a 2½ hour drive.
Day 3 – From here we cycle to Jhunjhunu: Cycling distance – 45km
Day 4 – Today we cycle from Jhunjhunu to Mahansar: Cycling distance – 45km
Day 5 – Our cycling today takes us through stunning desert landscapes to Nawalgarh, stopping in Mandawa: Cycling distance – 60 km
Day 6 – We push on, cycling to Danta through classic Rajasthani villages, well away from the established tourist routes: Cycling distance – 85km
Day 7 – Today we continue our cycling challenge and bike to Sambhar Salt Lake, approached through the Aravalli Hills: Cycling distance – 75km
Day 8 – Following breakfast, we don our helmets one last time and cycle to Pachewar: Cycling distance – 85km
Day 9 – We’ll have a quick look at Amber Fort, one of the most impressive sights in Rajasthan, as we pass by on our way to Agra, a 5 hour drive away.
Day 10 – Depending on flight times, there may be some time in Delhi, before transferring to the airport for our flight to the UK, arriving back the same day.
