Brighten up the office by wearing the oddest socks you can find – mix and match colours, lengths and patterns to make your feet as noticeable as possible. Alternatively you can wear Lots of Socks (which can be purchased in our shop) – Down Syndrome International‘s special event to celebrate World Down’s Syndrome Day (21st March).
Why not get everyone at work to wear green for the day or dress up as famous ‘green’ characters such as Shrek, the Wicked Witch of the West, the Incredible Hulk or Kermit the frog. Charge everyone a small fee (£1) and have a great day! Be sure to send us your pictures.
It’s time to discover unique office skills you never knew you had. You can show off your super speedy fingers in a typing contest or ditch your computers for a wheelie chair race, using your imaginations to create a tournament of fun-packed office challenges. Just charge an entry fee to take part, perhaps hosting a sweepstake to support the participants. Make sure you check your health & safety rulebook – we don’t want any broken legs when things get really competitive!
Eat Eat Eat
Everybody loves a sweet treat every now and then so why not get your colleagues baking to raise money for the DSA? Plan your sale within your department/floor/entire office, charge a fee for a slice of cake/biscuit and voila! You’ve not only had great fun baking and eating lots of yummy things but you’ve raised money for the DSA! We even have some recipes to give you some ideas to get you started. You could even go one step further and host your own British Bake off – charge participants to enter and get a sweep steak going to support them. Or for those whose tastes are more savoury perhaps host a series of dinner parties – Come Dine with Me style!
The DSA have devised a six round pub quiz for a fun and easy way to raise money, whilst waking up those brain cells! All you have to do is find a venue and recruit your teams and away you go! To request a pub quiz pack, just email us today!
It is the 21st Century and for those of you who want to knock down on travel costs and do something closer to home, there are plenty of challenges available. Get a team together and head down to your local gym, swimming pool or even get out the old Wii fit, to undertake a virtual challenge of your choice. You could swim or row the channel, run a 10k or complete a golf championship – all without leaving your neighbourhood! Simply get sponsored and get active!
Swag Swish Swap
We all have clothes sitting in our wardrobes we’ve been clinging onto or refuse to throw away because ‘you might wear them again’. Why not hold a swag swish swap?
Charge an entry fee (£5 for example) and invite everyone to bring three items of clothing or accessories and then swap them with other people for an easy way to update your wardrobe!
Give it up
It’s that time to cut back – pick something you really love and try to manage without it for a designated time period, asking friends and family to sponsor you. Whether it be alcohol, smoking or chocolate, both you and the DSA should be pleased with the results.
Got some potty mouths in the office? Work can be stressful and it’s surprisingly easy for obscenities to slip out. Bring a swear box into the office and ask for a £1 donation to the DSA every time somebody curses… you could end up raising a small fortune!
Mobile phone recycling is one of the simplest ways of fundraising for the DSA. Why not design a mobile phone collection box and ask everyone to have a look round their houses for any unused phones to bring in and pop in your box? When the box is full, give us a call on 0333 121 2300 and we’ll arrange for the phones to be collected. Not only will you be helping the environment, but you’ll also be raising vital cash for the DSA!
Payroll giving is a simple, effective way to give to the DSA from your pay before you are taxed – increasing the impact of your contribution. Further information can be found under the Corporate section of our website.
We offer a range of events – some allow you to travel, play in the mud or dive out of a plane! You can take part individually or as a team. Check out the Events section of our website for more details.
