In December 2013 the DSA received a complete office refurbishment courtesy of a new initiative developed by leading workplace and design consultancy Morgan Lovell.
The aim of Charity SOS is to rally the resources of the construction industry to make a positive change to the working environment of those who dedicate their lives to helping others, in this case the staff of the DSA.
The DSA was selected as the beneficiary of the project in October 2013 and DSA staff worked closely with the Morgan Lovell team in planning logistics for the build, which took place all in one day on 9 December.
The big day saw around 80 volunteers and DSA staff come together to strip out old fixtures and fittings, paint walls, lay new flooring, install state-of-the-art AV equipment and stunning designer furniture, culminating in an emotional handover ceremony in which the new office environment was revealed.
In total, the Charity SOS project was worth around £200,000. This is a sum that the DSA would never dream of spending on its office, yet the change to the working environment has proved immensely valuable. Staff now have a pleasant atmosphere in which to work, which also meets our practical needs. This will no doubt help us to be more productive and more importantly happier in our working environment.
