Awareness Week 2016

NI 1

My Friends, My Community – what it means to be included

We launched Awareness Week this year with 21 people tandem sky diving. They were joined by 21 people in Wales and 21 people in England!

The event was full of lots of laughter, fear, celebration and of course, bravery.

Lighting up

Several local councils lit up their buildings for World Down Syndrome day and Awareness Week. Many thanks to Belfast City Hall, the Guildhall in Derry/Londonderry, Newtownards and Bangor Council buildings, Newry and Mourne council buildings, Castlereagh and Lisburn.

Raising awareness

NI 2 NI 3

Our local affiliated groups met local Councillors for photo opportunities. Many of our members wore LOTSOFSOCKS socks to raise awareness (many public figures did too!). We raised awareness and funds with all kinds of events and celebrations throughout Northern Ireland.

Thank you to everyone involved!
