Normansfield – Protecting a Theatrical Past

Normansfield theatre scenery photography students 2In 2015 we received a Heritage Lottery Grant (HLF) for £85,100 for our project Normansfield – Protecting a Theatrical Past.

The HLF’s grant means we can carry out vital building works to protect our Victorian Grade II* listed theatre and our remarkable collection of original, hand painted scenery. We will also be creating a fully catalogued, digital archive of our scenery to create a ‘virtual theatre’, with a school’s programme planned and a joint V&A Museum conference in 2017.

Normansfield theatre scenery photography students 3Work has now begun on photographing the extensive collection of flats with the first of our student workshops taking place on Friday 17 July for 12 photography students (up to GCSE age). An exhibition of their work is planned later in the year. The external works and second part of the photography is planned to take place in August 2015.
