How Down Syndrome Liverpool have been #CONNECTING

This year’s theme for World Down Syndrome day is #CONNECT.

Margaret Hogan from the Down Syndrome Liverpool tells us how the charity has managed to #CONNECT this past year.

Like all charities it has been a bit of a struggle, but we have managed to keep our speech and language sessions going online.

We had a Christmas Bake Off Competition and the winners (all of them) received a DSL Star Baker apron with their name on it. We also recently did a Valentine’s cookie competition (we even got a mention on BBC North West Tonight) and all the participants received a heart-shaped box filled with sweets.

We have worked in partnership with the Story Barn who did Zoom sessions for our 5-8 year olds, who enjoyed games and stories. We are planning an Easter hat or paint your egg too.

During the summer, we sent cake and cookie hampers to all out families and at Christmas, we sent chocolate hampers to the children.
