Glow in the Park is set to return to Cornwall for its fourth annual 5km fun run, working alongside Down’s Syndrome Association and Down Syndrome International as its charity partners.
The event will take place at Boconnoc Country Estate, just outside of Lostwithiel, on the evening of Saturday 11 November from 7pm with exhilarating glow zones on route, mixed in with neon, electrifying light shows and energising beats for an ultimate party night in the dark. Entrants, who can register their interest in the event online now, are encouraged to walk, dance or run their way around Boconnoc’s historic parkland to raise money for the charities.
Ben Mason, event organiser, said: “It’s great to be back in Cornwall again, supporting charities that can offer a lot of support within the county.
“Glow in the Park has become a great success across the UK, enabling us to offer even more of a Glow experience year on year at a great Cornish venue like Boconnoc. We have created a fun night out, with a lot more than just running, for people to dress up in their glow and party, with a fitness element too that we hope everyone will continue to enjoy. It’s going to be a fantastic night.”
Becky Penrose, Community Fundraiser South West, said: “We’re thrilled to be part of Glow in the Park Cornwall for 2017.”
“One of our current UK programmes, DSActive, gives children and adults with Down’s syndrome the opportunity to get involved in sport. Glow in the Park is a fantastic sporting event that all ages and abilities can take part in. The Down’s Syndrome Association (DSA) and Down Syndrome International (DSi) supporters and fundraisers are really excited to get involved.
“It’s also a brilliant opportunity for us to raise awareness of the work of both charities whose efforts focus on improving quality of life for people with Down’s syndrome in the UK and around the world.
“DSi are currently at the forefront of an exciting global project which will ultimately ensure high quality healthcare provision for all people with Down’s syndrome across the globe.”
Glow in the Park is suitable for all abilities, from athletes and novice runners to a group of friends or a family (with children of age 8+). The Glow Zones for 2017 include Foam Party, UV Bubble zone, Hot & Cold, Fluorescent Park, the Twilight Zone and Rainbow Road, along with the previous popular zones, Time Tunnel Glow Zone and Retro Zone.
Entertainment continues throughout the night with live band Souled Out playing before and after the run with a mix of classic soul, Motown and disco hits.
