Disability Living Allowance (DLA) is for children who have extra care needs because of their illness or disability. It’s not means-tested.
Children with Down’s syndrome will all eventually get DLA. The earliest you can apply is when your child is 3 months old. Think about applying when you feel that your child needs a lot more help than other children of their age.
DLA has two parts: the care component and the mobility component. You can’t get mobility until your child is at least 3 years old.
