About Down's Syndrome : Richard

Down's syndrome

My name is Richard. I am 32 years old. I enjoy going out to the pub and the cinema

I have 3 jobs, at home base, in a garden centre and at a local school.  It is the same  mainstream high school I attended in which  I achieved 8 G.C.S.E’s,  being the first  pupil  with Down’s syndrome  to get that amount of grades in the school’s history.

I am  the first person  locally with Down’s syndrome to achieve my black belt in karate  which led  to me  being  in a local papers.

I live on my own in my supported living flat and love the independence that I have. I go to local run clubs and visit the cinema most weekends.

I have  been  with my partner  for 11 months  and we  are  now engaged and planning  our wedding  I am  currently writing a novel similar to Harry Potter as this  is my  favourite genre of films/ books. I am just in the stages of my final re-reads and I cannot wait for it to be finished so I can become rich and famous.
