DSA parent meetings enable parents and specialists to share information and experiences, and to guide DSA work. Our previous parent/carer meetings have focused on communication, looking after yourself, sensory differences and supporting behaviour positively.

Geraldine White, chartered clinical psychologist, will discuss what we know about autism in people who have Down’s syndrome, assessment/diagnosis and interventions. Jane Mitchell’s workshop addresses how to look after yourself and how important this is for you and your children. Beth Medcalf will present on how to get the help you need. We know from our helpline services that many parents are not seeking or receiving the help they are entitled to.

We look forward to meeting parents in Hull on 27 February 2020.

You are welcome to share information in your networks but please be advised that the meeting is specifically for parent carers whose children have Down’s syndrome and also have additional, complex needs or autism spectrum conditions.

Future dates and locations for parent meetings, details to follow.
