We are delighted to announce that this year The Greggs Foundation is supporting our Awareness Week campaign for the first time, with over 350 Greggs shops across London and the South East of England taking part from 20-26 March 2016.
The Foundation’s support for Awareness Week launched at the Greggs shop in Twickenham, on World Down Syndrome Day (21 March 2016). Staff from both Greggs and the DSA joined customers to launch the week’s festivities.
The Greggs Foundation aims to make a difference to the lives of people in the heart of the Greggs’ local community and are fully supporting our theme this year, “My Friends, My Community”, which highlights the rights of children and adults with Down’s syndrome to participate fully in their local communities as and when they wish with the correct support.
Rita Docker, Regional Charity and Social Co-ordinator South East, Greggs Foundation commented, “Greggs is proud to be involved with such a worthy charity that supports people with Down’s syndrome and helps them live a fulfilling life. We are delighted to celebrate this support and hope our customers will get behind this tremendous week and support the DSA.”
Carol Boys, Chief Executive of the DSA said, “We are really proud to have the support of the Greggs Foundation for the DSA Awareness Week. This amazing involvement of the Greggs shops in the South East for the DSA week will not only increase awareness, but help boost funds for the charity, which does so much to support people with Down’s syndrome in our communities.”
