Public viewing from Monday 1st – Saturday 6th August 2011

Open hours – 11.00am – 19.00pm

This exhibition will be a showcase of the artistic talents of people with Down’s syndrome with all of the My Perspective 2011 shortlisted photographs as well as partnering up with Shifting Perspectives artists Rory Davies (winner of My Perspectives 2010) and the outstanding artist Lester Magoogan.

My Perspective is the only photography competition solely for people with Down's syndrome. My Perspective now in its second year is the natural follow-on from the hugely successful Shifting Perspectives exhibition. For the past seven years, in partnership with the Down’s Syndrome Association (DSA) Shifting Perspectives has been showcasing work from a fantastic collection of professional photographers all of whom have a personal link with Down's syndrome. In years gone by, people with Down's syndrome were photographed as exhibits, where the viewer was not supposed to see the person, just the difference. My Perspective turns the camera around and gives the subjects in front of the camera a chance to show the world from their point of view.

The DSA extends the most sincere thanks to GlaxoSmithKline who have generously been sponsoring Shifting Perspectives since June 2005. GlaxoSmithKline have renewed their commitment to funding Shifting Perspectives and My Perspectives until 2012. The body of work that has been created during the past seven years will now continue to travel throughout the UK and across the globe.

Joining the exhibition will be this year’s winning photograph - Half-boat and Weed, Portsoy by David Cormack.
