The voice of Chesham's new town crier echoed through the streets today at his official proclamation to the public.
William Ellis aged 32 who has Down's syndrome, was introduced to the public by Oxford City and Banbury town crier Anthony Church outside the United Reformed Church, in Broadway, Chesham, at noon.
Mr Ellis rang his bell, exclaimed 'O'Yez' three times and read a speech off his official scroll concluding: "God bless the Mayor of Chesham and God save the Queen."
Mr Ellis said: "I really enjoyed it when I got started and I got more confident. I'm looking forward to being the town crier for a year."
Mr Ellis is the first person with a learning disability to be elected to the position of town crier.
