There is an unpaid Project Search internship in Brentford, South West London for 17-24 year olds with learning disabilities. In order to apply for this position you need to;

  • have Down's syndrome
  • be aged 17-24
  • be able to travel independently
  • committed to work and study 5 days a week
  • committed to progress to paid employment after the internship
  • registered onto WorkFit for your assessment www.dsworkfit.org.uk

Project Search prepares students with learning disabilities for work. The course is based at GlaxoSmithKline and it is a one year academic course broken down over three terms, five days a week.

You will spend one and a half hours each day in the classroom. The rest of the time will be spent in the workplace. You will be given support on the job and the opportunity to try three different job roles.

You will be supported full-time by a College tutor, and by a supported employment adviser and job coach.

After a successful year you will obtain a City & Guilds in Employment & Personal Development with work experience in three different work environments. All placements will support you in finding a paid employment in your area.
