Employment Development Officer (North West and North East of England)

Salary: £25,000

Office base: Home-based, ideally for someone based centrally in the project region (North West and North East England)

Salary/Hours: £25,000, Full-time, 35 hours per week. One year fixed term contract with the possibility of a 2 year extension if funding permits.

The successful candidate will develop employment opportunities for people with Down's syndrome in accordance with agreed business plans, and will capitalise on the willingness of employers to lend their support to the progression of individuals with DS within their workforce. This project will be delivered in the North East and North West of England.

Opportunities at the DSA Head Office

The DSA is always looking for volunteers. We are particularly keen to hear from people who have skills or experience in:

• Technical IT skills and web support

• Media/digital media

• Proofreading

• Fundraising

• Events

• Marketing

• Social media strategy

Local Support Groups and Volunteers

The DSA has a created a Local Groups and Volunteering Guide to help local support groups support their volunteers. The guide covers every stage of volunteering, from reaching out to new volunteers to volunteering health and safety guidance and volunteer support. You can also access template sheets which you can print out and use.

Opportunities to volunteer with people with Down's syndrome

The DSA doesn’t tend to have volunteering opportunities with children or adults with Down’s syndrome. If you would like to volunteer with people with Down’s syndrome, we recommend that you contact your local volunteering centre or visit www.do-it.org.uk to find out what opportunities are available near you.

Opportunities with DS Active

Like football? Fancy helping kids and young people with Down's syndrome build their potential and confidence? DS Active runs football teams for children and young people with Down's syndrome across England and Wales, and is always on the lookout for potential helpers and coaches.
