New Parents

Congratulations on the birth of your baby!

Most of our parents find out that their baby has Down's syndrome soon after the birth and the news is a great shock. We understand that your life is no longer following the expected route, but we want you to know that you are not alone, and we hope we can help you to celebrate your baby's life.

Read our New Parent's Guide.

You are welcome to call our Helpline to speak to an Information Officer, or find out about local support groups.

When you are ready you may also like to look at the Family Support pages to find out about getting help for you and your baby.

The DSA has over 20,000 members, please note that the first year is FREE to parents and full-time carers within the UK.  New Parents will receive a special pack and will also then have access to -

  • The Journal - a magazine packed full of information, news, and member stories that we produce twice a year
  • Conferences & Events - a chance to attend our events and conferences on a range of interesting subjects including health, education & social care
  • Information - a huge range of helpful leaflets and booklets on all aspects of living with Down's syndrome
