Shifting Perspectives
Shifting Perspectives is now in its seventh year and with each year the exhibition gets bigger and better as we've now gone international. Shifting Perspectives has been able to continue to exhibit throughout the UK and internationally through an extension of the support from GSK which will run through 2013. Thank you GSK!
2010 saw us continue to travel throughout the UK but also take the exhibition further afield. March saw the 365 project shown throughout Colombia with the support of Fundown Caribe and August saw us begin tours of both Hong Kong and Turkey (Down Turkiye). We would like to say a special thanks to all involved for helping us to get the project overseas ensuring as many people as possible are given the opportunity to see Shifting Perspectives.
As well as travelling the world, we also have a number of UK venues you can visit Shifting Perspectives at.
Since 2005, Shifting Perspectives has brought together the work of twelve photographers who have a personal connection with Down's syndrome.
The exhibition examines the lives of people of all ages with Down's syndrome, their connection to the photographers and the changes throughout the course of their lives.
In many ways the work reflects a contemporary trend in documentary photography where practitioners are no longer purely objective observers with little understandingof the complexity of the situation; they are personally involved with their subject matter.
