Unfortunately all our our golden bond places are now filled for the 2012 Virgin London Marathon. We would like to thank everyone who applied for a place this year - we'll be in touch as soon as details for the entrance to the 2013 London Marathon are out.
If you have your heart set on running a Marathon in 2012 then why not take part in the Paris Marathon instead? Click here for further details.
If you were lucky enough to have managed to get your own place in this year's event and haven't yet decided who to run for then why not run for us?
We will not only welcome you to our Green Giants team with open arms but provide you with full fundraising and event support in the run up to the big day, a fabulous DSA running vest, invite for you and your family to the post race reception and also a post race reception.
For further information on how to join the Green Giants or to register your interest for the 2013 London Marathon, please contact Lisa on the details above.
Claire O'Neill tells us why she ran this year's Marathon:
"Upon watching the London Marathon back in 2010 I, like others, felt inspired to apply to do it myself and low and behond, 12 months later, there I was at the start in my DSA running vest thinking 'Crikey, there's no turning back now!'
Although I didn't throw myself into training as much as I could have, I was proud at my progress in the few months I had to prepare - my place was a last minute entry due to someone pulling out.
For a few years now I have been working with families with children who have Down's syndrome, so it felt right to be running on behalf of them and the organisation, as well as involving them in my fundraising. I continue to be inspired by these young adults and feel honoured to have pushed myself in this challenge for them.
There were many emotions felt throughout the whole day, and none more so than when crossing the finish line six hours after starting back at Greenwich Park.
Thank you to Lisa and Paul of the Down's Syndrome Association for their motivation and support during those last few miles. It was an amazing experience and one I shall remember for many years to come!"
