Charity of the Year 2010/11 -
Down's Syndrome Association Wales appointed Sainsbury's Thornhill Store Charity of the Year 2010/11
We are delighted to announce that customers and staff of the Sainsbury's Thornhill Store in Cardiff voted to make the DSA their Charity of the Year for 2010/11. We looking forward to working with them in raising funds to support our work in Wales over the coming year. Look out in store for our fundraising merchandise and collections
DSA awarded funding to establish an innovative project to meet the speech and language therapy needs of children with Down's syndrome
The Association is thrilled to have been awarded a substantial grant from Early Support Wales (a Welsh Assembly Government funded initiative) to establish the first Co Worker network of therapists and trained assistants to run language groups for children with Down's syndrome across Wales. The project will begin in the autumn of 2010. For more contact Julian Hallett.
NEW Teacher Training Materials -
Down's Syndrome Association Wales commissioned to produce new teacher training materials
The Association has been commissioned by the Welsh Assembly to produce a range of new information and training materials to support newly qualified teachers and teachers accessing ongoing professional development across Wales. These will be supported by good practice examples captured on DVD and featuring mainstream schools across Wales. For further information contact Julian Hallett.
DSA Regional Manager appointed as Early Support Consultant for Wales
Early Support Wales www.earlysupportwales.org.uk is an All Wales initiative that aims to significantly improve the coordination of support and information available to children with a disability from birth to age 5 across Wales. Julian Hallett has been appointed a Consultant working with four Unitary Authorities across Wales.
DSActive Programme being developed with Cardiff City Football Club
